Having Porblems with Bookmarks within a webpage

B

Brian

Hi All,
I recently created a data webpage with multiple tables and bookmarks. I
setup links at the top of the page to reference these bookmarks throughout
the page. The problem is, depending on which PC or what time of day I access
the site, the bookmarks work differently. Sometimes I login and I click on
the bookmark link and the reference point opens at the top of the page like
it should. Other times I click of the exact same link or others and the
reference point will open at the bottom or middle of the page. Any ideas why
thei could be happening.
Special Notes: This page is always opened using IE 5.0 or higher, OS
windows all platforms. Created using Frontpage 2002.

Unfortunately, there really isn't any way to understand what could be going
on without a sample URL. Please post a URL to the page and we'll give it a
shot.

Something to look for though is a space in a bookmark name as spaces aren't
allowed. Also, bookmarks need to be 8 characters in length or less. It could
be the browser has trouble discerning to closely related bookmarks such as
#whatismyname and #whatismyhaircolor, both would appear the same #whatismy
as only 8 letters are recognized so it's ends up the browsers choice which
one to choose since to it they are identical.

Hope this helps,

Howdy.

Make sure all your bookmark names are lower case, that
they don't contain any special characters, and that you
don't have any duplicates.

Mark -

FWIW, bookmarks over 8 letters in length, with spaces in the name (the bookmark
name is generated by FP, after all, if text is selected) work fine on my website
in all browsers.
