Having to manually WSS sites -- WHY

E

Erin

the users in the AD group that should be populating EACH WSS workspace is not
working and I'm having to manually sync all these sites (all 500+) of
them...which is not fun :) Where is the setting or the breakdown in this? I
can't imagine that project server doesn't have a setting to just say sync
this AD group with the WSS workspaces? Can someone please direct me to that
setting and/or the spot where I set it up to sync every night at like 3am
like it does between AD and PWA? This is a huge company adn more projects
and users are being added all the time...

Thanks in advance --

Hi Erin,

I've tried to reply back to your previous posts, but for some reason
they are not going through :-(

Anyway I'll try to answer this one...

The WSS Synchronization setting is located at Admin --> Manage Windows
SharePoint Services --> Site provisioning settings.

Under the "Grant user access to the project team Web sites" section
ensure that the "Automatically add Project Web Access users..." checkbox
is checked

Good Luck

Rolly,

That box is checked - and when creating new sites - it works great --
however on the existing WSS sites -- I'm not seeing any tie to AD b/c the
users that are being added to teh AD groups are not being granted access to
WSS unless i manually sync the site. Is this just an overlook in the system
b/c if so, I am going to add the entire refinery and then manually sync them
all so i don't have to do it multiple times.

thanks again -- (e-mail address removed)

Hi Erin,

I must be missing something here.

When you say existing WSS sites, are you referring to Project Workspace
sites that were created via publishing a project to Project Server or
manually creating a Project Workspace site within SharePoint Central
Admin?

The Active Directory synchronization with Project Server Groups or the
Enterprise Resource Pool has nothing (directly) to do with adding PWA
users (that are Windows Authenticated) to Project Workspace sites.

Please remember that PWA users need to be added as a resource to the
project in order to be added to the corresponding Project Workspace site
that was created.

Does that make sense?
