Having trouble downloading Office XP Service Pack 3, suggestions?

Hi, have just updated pc to Microsoft Office 2000 Professional, but now the
email accounts on the pc aren't working. Whenever we open Outlook, it crashes
before it can download emails with a message that Outlook isn't responding.
The odd thing is Outlook worked for one day after installing Office 2000. The
MSFT download page says we need Office XP Service Pack 3, but this will not
download. Error message says insert the disc with MSFT Office XP Professional
with Front Page, and whenever we insert the Office 2000 discs nothing
happens! What are we doing wrong??
Many thanks for listening

Hi, putneyathome,

If the updater says you need Office XP SP3, your computer is reporting that
it has some component of Office XP installed.

Check in the Add/Remove Programs applet in the Windows Control Panel to see
what Office programs are installed. This would include Publisher,
FrontPage, and any other Office family products. If you need those
installed, use their disks when prompted by the installer to update the
Office XP family. The Office 2000 disks will not work in this situation,
because Office 2000 isn't being updated. If you don't need those programs,
then uninstall them, and the updater won't try to update them.

As for the Office 2000 issue, I think I would try to repair the installation
by re-installing it from your original installation media.

If that doesn't work, post back.
