having trouble formatting postcards

N

naomi

I am trying to make postcards in word to print out at home. I bought special
paper and have selcted the appropriate template in Word. I have inserted a
picture which i want to go all the way to the edge of each postcard with a
black border around each postacrd. So far so good. It looks great in word.
When i print it (or print preview it) the sides and/or tops and bottoms are
missing. ARG! I have been at this for hours! Does anybody know how to do
this??? I am going nuts here!

Your printer may not be capable of printing to the edge. Read the manual and
see if you can print "full bleed".

i have checked and my priner is able to print to edge. also, i have tried it
with other printers. But the truth is, i can tell it's not going to work
before i print it. Already in print preview sides/tops/ or bottoms are cut off

Do you have your printer set to full bleed?

yes. i do . but the problem is in the formatting. already in the print
preview, before i have selcted a printer, it looks wrong

Try setting the printer up first.

like i said. the issue is not the printer. i have set up the printer first
and have, in fact, done so on several printers. it has nothing to do with the
printer. it has to do with how to format it

My first suggestion would be to use Publisher instead of Word, but I'm
unabashedly biased.

I'd suggest forgetting the template create a plain documetn . Then go to
FILE | PAGE SETUP | PAPER SIZE = CUSTOM.

At this point you the horizontal and vertical dimensions, margins,
orientation etc etc.
