Yes, you have to purchase the new version, which, with 2007 out, might be
available, might not. Amazon has it in Used and New. Check whichever
vendor you trust.

Or should you use one of the many spam mail third party apps, eg
www.cloudmark.com

The third party add-on is an option, but, considering the age of 2002, I
don't feel comfortable telling someone they should continue using it. Yes,
I've seen all the problems people have using newer versions, but I also
recognize that people don't post to a newsgroup saying 'hey, it works
great!' I've used Outlook pretty much since it replaced the Exchange client
and while it has its foibles, I think it's one of the better mail clients
I've ever used (lets see, since I opened that box... cc:Mail, Groupwise,
Notes, MS Mail, Exchange Client, pine, elm, Eudora, OE, Windows Mail and
probably a few other Win16 apps that have slipped my mind... and that isn't
including the web based clients.. Groupwise, the old one, was the only one I
think I'd like more. It had a smaller screen footprint.)

But back to the question.

If I had my druthers, I'd probably recommend in this order:

1) Upgrade to Outlook 2003
2) Install thirdparty app
3) Upgrade to Outlook 2007

Now, if you're just really really super comfortable with 2002, go with my
last option. But compare the price with what you could get 2003 for. And
investigate return policies. Maybe you'll get one (or the other) and not
like it and want to return it and try the other.

2007 should probably be a last resort over all. Not that it isn't good, I
personally love it, but it'll be more expensive, it could require a hardware
upgrade to run as quickly as 2002 did, and it has a learning curve that you
might not want to bother with.

Check your local online retailers, or stores. That'll likely be your best
bet. Or ebay.
