Having trouble with one column formula

D

Deb H

I can't figure out what I am doing wrong. I am adding
figures in a columns. I've entered the same formula
(with the appropriate column letter) and it works fine
except for column M. The formula I am using is
=SUM(M3:M45). It adds the column correctly but the total
is followed by -Jan. I can't seem to get rid of the -Jan.
I can't figure out where it is coming from. The column
headings are months, but column M happens to be August
and as I have previously stated, this is the only column
that I am getting something other than just the correct
total.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi Deb!

It looks like a formatting problem.
Check the formatting for the cell in column M (Select the cell, then select
Cells from the Format menu) and change to the format you use in the working
cells.
You could also copy the formatting from a working cell, by select a working
cell and click on the Format Painter button, then click on the cell in
column M.

Check the formatting of the cell in which the formula resides.

Perhaps a custom setting of #,##0.00 "-Jan" or similar?
