Sorry to say I can't figure out how to add (see) a header & footer button to my Word 2008 toolbar like I could in 2004. H-E-L-P

The toolbar is not part of Word 2008; however, if you enable the Formatting
Palette (View>Formatting Palette), you will see several options related to
headers and footers once you place the cursor in the appropriate section.

It basically works the same way as Word 2004, EXCEPT that the customize
dialog was moved to View | Customize Toolbars because that's more
Mac-like, thus confusing all experienced Word users who were used to
Tools | Customize Toolbars. Yet Tools | Customize Keyboard remains in
the same place.

If that's not the problem, offer more specific details about what you
do, what you want to happen, and what happens instead.

Incidentally, I guessed differently at the meaning here, and thought
perryatmsu wanted to put a quick access ViewHeaderFooter button on his
regular toolbar. In other words, perryatmsu, you asked a confusing
question.

Hi Rae -

While in the position in the Footer where you want the information go to
Insert> Field, select Document Information from the Categories list then
pick FileName from the list of Field Names. Click the Options button to add
a case-structure switch of your choice.

In the future, please don't tack your question onto an existing thread just
because it seems to be somewhat related. Unless you are actually replying to
the posts in that thread it's better to submit a NEW message.

Hello -

For the additional information you need to add the \p switch to the field.
In the insert field dialog after you click Options there is a button at the
top that toggles you between General Switches & Field Specific Switches -
the latter is where you could have added that when creating the field.

If you already have the field inserted you can edit it in the doc by keying
Option+F9 to toggle display of the field codes. Your result should look
something like this (depending on whether you used any case switches):

{ FILENAME \p \* MERGEFORMAT }

As for the Forum access, that's something we've been harping on for some
time. It's on their "list" to be changed, but so far that change hasn't
materialized. In the top left corner of the web page there is a Search field
directly below which you'll find the diminutive & singular link that reads
"If not, ask a new question." Unfortunately, once you've done some shopping
& scrolled a bit through a reply that link is out of sight - and you're
certainly not the only one who doesn't think to go seeking it :)
