Hi. I cannot import page numbers in ms word 2007 in my vista x64 system.
While i was trying to troubleshoot the problem, i found that almost every
template in the "insert" tab was not available. I cannot see header
templates, footer, textbox, page number, coverpage templates.

Here is a couple of screenshots.

The problem only exists in my desktop pc (vista x64) and not in my laptop
(vista x86).
AND the best one for the end.
If i open a special template file that is here C:\Program Files
(x86)\Microsoft Office\Office12\Document Parts\1032\Building Blocks.dotx
EVERYTHING works fine in this file. But when i start again word from its
desktop shortcut nothing works.

What is going on?

The copy of the Building Blocks.dotx file that Word actually uses is in your
profile in the hidden folder %appdata%\Microsoft\Document Building Blocks\1032
(the number indicates the Greek locale). The copy in the Program Files path is
the original installed file, which Word copies into each user's profile the
first time they use a building block.

Apparently your profile's copy of the file is damaged so that Word can't load
it. You can simply delete that copy and restart Word to make a new copy of the
one in the Program Files path, but that won't have any entries you might have
added. If there are any custom entries, and if they're present on the laptop,
you can copy the file from the laptop's profile and paste it into the
corresponding folder on the desktop.

Thank you for your reply, i really appreciate your work and the first thing i
did, was to follow your guide and delete in the appdata folder, Building
Blocks.dotx. Unfortunately it didn't work. I also tried to manually copy the
Building Blocks.dotx either from my laptop or the program files folder.
Didn't fix it.
I also diagnosed, repaired and finally reinstalled office, but again the
problem persists.

But if i open the Building Blocks.dotx from program files directory,
everything works ok.

What happens if you restart Word, go to the Insert ribbon and click Quick Parts
and then Building Blocks Organizer? (Sorry, I don't know the Greek equivalents.)
Are any entries listed in the dialog? If so, what is shown in the Template
column?

Can you add a new entry (select text and press Alt+F3) and specify Building
Blocks.dotx as the location in the Save In box? Is that entry then available, at
least until you close Word?

In the building block organizer there are only 2 option that are saved to
normal.dotm.

I tried the other thing you told me (select text and press alt+f3) and in
the save in column it shows only normal.dotm.

Just to be sure, is it true that there is a Building Blocks.dotx file in the
folder %appdata%\Microsoft\Document Building Blocks\1032 at the time you did
this?

I'm beginning to suspect that your profile might not have the correct
permissions to read and write in that folder or file. And if that's true, it
might indicate a more general problem with the profile. Here are two things you
could do that might lend additional weight to that theory:

- From the Start menu, right-click the Word item and choose "Run as
administrator". Does that enable Word to open the building blocks?

- Create a new user and, assuming Office was installed for all users on the
machine, run Word in that profile. Does that work correctly?

If either or both of these attempts are successful, your current profile is the
problem. I don't have the knowledge to guide you in solving it, whether it's
just a permission problem in that one folder or something larger. You should
probably ask in a newsgroup that deals with Windows Vista, and especially the
64-bit version.

Did you try deleting Building Blocks.dotx in any other other language
folders found under Document Building Blocks? It could be you aren't
actually using the copy stored in the 1032 folder. Check all of them and
delete any you find. Note you need to delete Building Blocks.dotx or move it
out of the folder completely. If you rename it then Word will still attempt
to load it.

You were right!!!
I made a new account (not administrator, just normal user) and it
worked!!!!!!!!!

I have to explain that i'm the administrator and the only user of the pc, i
cannot understand why there is problem with the permissions ....
