Header Footer setting error

Every once in a while, when attemping to use the 'different first page'
command, I receive the following error message: settings you chose for left
and right margins, column spacing or paragraph indents are too large for the
page width in some sections.

Word seems locked on the command in spite of the changes I make in
margins,etc.

Thanks for the help.

Go to Format | Columns and click on the Preset marked One. This will
activate the "Equal column width" setting, which usually solves the problem.
