Header/Footer toolbar just disapepared. Can I get it back?

I have Word 2000, and was trying to add a watermark. In the process, my
header/footer toolbar disappeared. Page layout view and the head/footer
viewer are selected. I have tried the repair utility and it didn't fix it.
I assume its from the normal.doc template, but am at a loss as to how to get
the darned thing back. Any ideas? Thanks!

In Page Layout view, choose Tools - Customize - Toolbars tab. Header and
Footer should be listed... click to place a check next to it (don't have
Word 2K on this computer, so I can't verify the steps).

Thanks, Herb, but no luck. Header and Footer was not one of the toolbar
choices. I have a feeling it's an option somewhere, but deeply burried.
Ugh.

I think I left out a step (just went to the other computer to look at Word
2000):

1. Choose View - Headers and Footers. This puts you in the header area, and
normally would display the Header/Footer toolbar.

2. Choose Tools - Customize - Toolbars tab. Does Header and Footer show up
now? If so, is it checked?

If this doesn't work, then I'm beginning to suspect some kind of template or
registry corruption. Try the steps shown here:

Okay, so I figured it out after only about 3 hours of fiddling. You were
right about the registry corruption. I dumped the old registry and
relaunched and voila, the toolbar is back! Thanks Herb!!!
