Header Information Look

With Outlook 2003 is there a way to change the look of the Reading Pane ->
Header Information
so that the Header does not take up 3 lines and I can change the background
color to appear different from the
message body.

I found how to Hide Header Information...but I really just want to be able
to make the header information
take up less room in the Reading Pane.

I want to do the exact same things:
1. Change the header font
2. Change the reading pane background color
