Hi,
I have WinXP with Microsoft Word and am trying to figure out how to place a
header of type "smith 1", "smith 2", etc... on all pages EXCEPT page 1. How
do I do that?

Thanks in advance,
Dave

Dave,

In order to have different headers you need to insert a page break after
the first page. Once a page break is inserted, you can then create a
different header and footer for the different pages containing the
"split". If you have a number on the first page or anthing on the first
page as a header, you must make sure that on the second page, where you
want to have it start numbering as if it was the first page, that you do
not choose Same as Previous option. This should ensure that the second
page has its own numbering and format.
