I am having trouble using the header row repeat funciton in a table
which I created by merging with an excel data source, I am selecting
the header row and choosing, header row repeat, but it still doesn't
work...any ideas?

Hey Tiff,

I used Word 2004 and performed the following steps to make it create the
Repeating Header Row:

1. New document, construct table "skeleton" table, attach data source,
insert data merge fields and merge.
2. With Merged Table in new document:
a) Select first row of the table
b) Table | Heading Rows Repeat

The first row selected should now be inserted as the first row on each
additional page of the document.

Are these the same steps you are performing?

Hi Tiff:

I think you may inadvertently have created two tables there. Try this:

1) Click in a cell in the first row (the one you want to be a header).
Don't select anything, just place the insertion point in there.

2) Hit Command + OPTION + T

The entire table should be highlighted/selected. If it isn't, you have two
separate tables close together.

The heading row would repeat, but it doesn't need to, because the table that
gets broken across the pages is a different table.

To cure it:

1) delete the top row.

2) Click in your first data row

3) Choose Table>Insert>Rows above

4) Re-type your headings in the new blank row

5) Use Heading Rows Repeat on that.

Cheers
