I am having a very difficult time with the size of the
header on the first page of my document. It covers the
entire page, I have tried resizing it, deleting it, etc.
The headers on the following 9 pages are great, just the
first page is messed up, I am at the point I am ready to
delete the page and start over, but I would like some
resolution, just for future use.

Mary Jo,

There are a few possibilities as to the cause. First, turn
ON your formatting marks by clicking the paragraph button
on your toolbar. This will enable you to see spaces and
manual line breaks. If you see them, you can now delete
them.

Also check after clicking in the header...

File | Page Setup | Layout: and make sure Top is selected
in the Vertical Alignment pick list.
