Heading level problem

In Word 97 I'm using the Word built in outline style headings:
1.0 Heading 1
1.01 Heading 2
1.01.1 Heading 3

and so on

When I get to subsequent levels it should go:
2.0
2.01
2.01.1

Instead it resets the levels after the first:
2.0
1.01
1.01.1

I can't find any setting that will correct this.

Any suggestions?

Look in the outline/multievel list numbering dialog for the restart after
dropdown. Numbering level 2 should be set to restart after numbering level 1,
level 3 after level 2, and so forth.
