headings. how do i work them?

I have no idea how to work headings! There are three completely random
sentances that are headings now in my document, and I can't figure out how to
delete them, or how to add new ones. I bring up the document map, and all
that happens is the three random headings show up. I am ripping my hair out
how to figure it out. How do I do it?!?!?!?

Not really a Word _programming_ question but...

What makes something a Heading is determined by the style that's applied to
it. If a paragraph is showing up in your document as a Heading, you can make
it not a Heading by clicking anywhere in the paragraph and selecting a
different style from the Styles list.

If this doesn't resolve the issue, I suggest that you re-post your question
in the 'General' newsgroup and provide a bit more information, most
especially the version of Word you are using.
