headings

BHAVNA

Whenever i am write my report I write it in new document.
So, in new fresh document there are always heading 1,2 and
3 by default. But when I select numbering titles and apply
heading 1 ,2 and 3 numbers it shows heading 1 to 9 in my
style dropdown bar. I want to display only number of
heading in use not others. How can I do that.

Many thanks
Bhavna

In Word 2002 you can define exactly which headings you want to be displayed
in the Styles dropdown. Previous versions display "Styles in use." The
default is to display Normal, Default Paragraph Font, and Headings 1-3.
Other styles are added as you use them. You can remove styles from the
display by deleting them from the "Styles in use" list in Format | Style,
but this will delete user-defined styles and reset built-in ones to their
factory default settings. *And* you can't delete any Heading styles that
have been added. So this rarely helps much.
