hello world example not working

Hello All,
i am VERY new to infopath and just trying to get the "hello world"
example running. I am using Visual Studio 2005 with InfoPath Design
Mode Integration. The example that i am trying is found
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa942693(VS.80).aspx and the
error i am getting is: an object reference not set error.
I have completed the full tutorial and am getting this error during the
load event on the line here user.SetValue(System.Environment.UserName);
any help will be appreciated.
