michael

One who as a Project Manager checked out one of its project and when saving
its project to server by Project Prof.2007, his computer is power off when
not finish the saving task. and now this project's status is checked out and
when I try to force check in this project, it can't execute this task, even
use admin account, I exam the task in queue, found that the position No.1's
task is SAVING PROJECT FROM PROJECT PROFESSIONAL 0%, and after that there
are a lot of task in queue can not be execute.

How can I do?
May I cancel the No.1's task of Saving the project from professional? How to
do? Because the client Professional was shutdown by accident of power off
and could not continue execute saving task, any of open this project by
professional is readonly now, and the project could not be checked in. and
the force check in task by PWA is in queue and can't on its turn becase of
the No.1 saving task not finish.

THANKS
Michael

If the state of the queue position 1 job is "Processing" then you need to
try and restart the queue service by logging onto the server and going to
the services and restarting it there.

How can I do?
use client project professional 2007?
any open of this project is readonly, How can I continue to save?
Could you please give me more detail or even step by step operation to
restarting service?

I follow your step to step No.6 and restart two service about project, the
queue and the event, but when I login to PWA, the queue is also stuck there.
Nothing changing found in PWA.
How can I do? Is there any way to try?

You will not be able to do anything with the project until it is checked
back in properly. And you can't check it in until you clear all the jobs
that are still waiting to be processed on this project.

First you can try and cancel the job but if it is already in the
"Processing" state then you will not be able to do this from PWA. If a
job is stuck in the processing state, the next thing to do is to attempt
to restart the queue services.
Follow these steps to restart the queue service:
1) Go to Start>Run, type "mstsc" and hit OK

2) Enter [server name] and hit Connect

3) Enter username and password for system account

4) You might get a screen asking you to map your local clipboard,
click yes or no

5) Once on the server go to Start>Run, type "services.msc" and hit OK

6) Highlight the Microsoft Office Project Server Queue Service and
hit the Restart hyperlink on the left hand side of the screen or
right-click restart

7) Verify the service restarted and then verify the queue has started
processing jobs again.

You were only supposed to restart one service, "Microsoft Office Project
Server Queue Service". Did you validate that it restarted with no issues?

Also, are you sure the job that is stuck is "Processing" and not "Getting
Queued". There is a big difference in how to handle each of those
scenarios.

Also, if you did restart "Microsoft Office Project Server Queue Service"
with no issues and your queue job in queue position 1 is still stuck in
"Processing" then I would also verify that you have two instances of
Microsoft.Office.Project.Server.Queuing.exe running under the Task Manager
on the server. If not, this is an indication that something has gone wrong
with your installation and you might need to do a re-install or at the very
least, re-provision the PWA site from SharePoint 3.0 Central Adminisrtation.

Also, I would try rebooting the server as well to see if this fixes your
stuck job in "Processing" state.

Michael,

I would say that your assessment is correct. If you have a job that is
stuck in the queue in a "Getting Queued" state, follow these steps to
remove it.

IMPORTANT: Cancelling this job WILL RESULT IN DATA LOSS.

1. Log into PWA
2. Go to Server Settings
3. Under the Queue section, click Manage Queue
4. Expand the Advanced Options section
5. Check the option "Cancel jobs getting enqueued"
6. Select the "stuck" job and click Cancel Jobs
7. Have your PM save again.

To avoid this problem in the future, make sure you instruct your PMs to
wait until the bar on the bottom of Project Professional reads "Save job
xx% complete. Expected Wait Time xxs". It is at this time that the job is
in the queue and that Pro is no longer needed.

Let me know if this resolution works for you!

Thanks,
Steve

Steve et al,

I have a similar but different problem. I have 'ghosts'! That is to say I
synced with ActiveDirectory but there are several resources that don't
apppear in the Resource Center. When I frantically looked about I found them
in the 'Delete Enterprise Resources/Resources and Users' as checked out. When
I go to 'Force Check-in' they do not appear in the list, nor do they appear
in the queue??

Any help would be fantastic!
