HELP!!! Access 2000 and Windows XP / starting db problem

Hello,

I have an Access 2k database that is front ended, with
about 15 users. Most are on Windows 98SE, with a few XP
machines. On a couple of the XP machines, when the
database is started it will load almost 100%, getting as
far as a main menu screen. (It even completes it's
connection to the back-end db). At that point, Access
will "freeze" and clicking on any object in the menu
screen will produce a "bonk" sound, and nothing works.
Checking the task list, it seems as though Access is still
running. I have tried using sp-1 only, updating through
sp-3, compacting, decompiling, etc. The program runs fine
on all the W98 machines, one of the XP boxes only exhibits
the behavior 1 out of 10 times of starting up, the other
XP box does it almost 100% of the time. Cold booting the
machine sometimes fixes it, but not consistently. It's a
fairly large, complex db, and the front ends are being
loaded from the local drives. I have exhausted all my
troubleshoting skills and am hoping someone will give me
something else to try...

TIA,

Keith
