help! access denied to onenote files

Hello,

I am desperately in need of help here. I cannot open, access, or copy my
onenote files through my home network connection.

background to the problem: My windows XP system is refusing to boot up
(unmountable boot volume error), and I haven't been able to fix this yet
(chkdsk and fixboot commands through the repair console did not do the
trick). However, I have been able to access the contents of my hard disk by
booting up with a ubuntu live boot CD. I also managed to set up a home
network between this computer running ubuntu and my other computer which runs
windows XP.

I can access and copy all my files through the network except my onenote
files. I cannot copy or open any of my onenote files within ubuntu. Neither
can I open them in onenote on the networked computer which runs XP. And I
can't copy them to my other computer through the network connection.

Please please please I need help! I have a deadline and I desperately need
to be able to open my onenote files to salvage my work.

Many thanks in advance to anyone who can help me,

arkein.

Hello Ben (if I may),

Hello Ben (if I may),

Thanks for showing interest,

Thankfully I found a solution. I still can't open the onenote files in the
main notebook save folder. I assume this is because I hadn't set this folder
as shared and that onenote locks these files from being accessed by any other
user by default. However, I was able to access my onenote backup files. Now I
can finally get back to work, backup my harddisk and reinstall windows.

cheers,
arkein
