Standing Tall
My Advanced Proxy settings seem to be stuck in a window entitled
"popupkiller" Port 8100 as a result of a software entitled "BPS Popup
& Cookie Shield & Ad Blocker." After determining that the software
from Bulletproof left a lot to be desired, I uninstaleld it, after
which I discovered that Mozilla 1.7b Proxy Settings were still in a
manual proxy configurations.
Subsequently, I uninstalled Mozilla and upgraded to 1.7RC-1, the
latest version. I had manually uninstalled all of the remaining
Mozilla files/folders prior to the upgraded version.
After installation of the new upgraded version, my settings remained
the same: stuck on "popupkiller," Port 8100.
After running countless registry "system" cleaners nothing popped up
pointing to a proxy setting entitled "popupkiller."
I then brought up each of the 28 js files and did a search for
anything related to this popupkiller. I still drew a blank. Upon
doing a search of the registry, I was astonished at the number of
proxy settings.
I then sent an email to http://bulletproofsoft.h4host.com/. While
there adware remover is excellent, this popup killer leaves a lot to
be desired. This company is definitely avoid not only me but this
issue.
I had the same problem, by the way with IE6's proxy settings but they
reversed very nicely back to no proxy settings at all.
I've only been using Mozilla for about a month now and feel it's a lot
more safer than Internet Explorer. That's probably an understatement
by some individuals.
Any help anyone can give me would sure be appreciated. It's obviously
in the registry but where?
Best Regards always,
S.T.
