It looked easy but I don't understand the first part
I use Document Properties. File > Information. On the Custom tab, create three new
properties: EmployeeName, StaffNumber and NI number. For the sake of
testing, fill in some test data (eg Fred, 12, 189). Later, when you're
finished, come back to this tab and change the values to "EmployeeName",
"StaffNumber" and "NI Number".

I am new to this so excuse the stupidity but how do I do the first bit?

It's File | Properties in Word 2002 and earlier (perhaps Information in Word
2003?).

Hi Suzanne,

It's File>Properties>Custom in Word 2003 too unless I misunderstand where
you're going with your comment.

Shauna gave the command as File | Information, which appeared to be
confusing the OP. I hesitated to "correct" this without knowing for sure
that it was not different in Word 2003, which I have not yet installed.
Thanks for confirming that it is the same.
