HELP - all emails are gone !

Eric

I am using Outlook Express 6 for Window 98, and I use to save all email on
e:\email directory. Once I reinstall window 98, and update IE6, then I try to
change the directory for email folder. It requests something, and I
accidently click the yes button, then all my email records are gone. Does
anyone know on how to restore those past email records.
Thank you in advance
Eric

Restore from backup? Like you would when your hard drive crashes.

You could search your workstation for .dbx files, which are OE's messages
stores.

(the outlook express newsgroup is microsoft.public.outlookexpress.general)

Will Outlook Express 6 backup automatically for me? I don't perform backup.
I have search for .dbx files for all harddrive, e:\email folder is the only
place where I can find *.dbx files, which usually contain over 100MB email,
but now this folder only contains a few KB. Do you have any suggestion?

If you reinstalled Windows 98 in the normal way, all of your previous files are
gone from the hard drive! You can only restore them if you had made a backup of
them somewhere else. OE does not backup automatically nor is there a built-in
manual backup routine except for its Export feature

Note: This newsgroup specializes in MS Outlook 97,98,2000,2002, and 2003.

You will be better served by posting your OE questions to a more relevant
newsgroup, such as this one:

news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress

...or access it via the web-based equivalent.
