HELP: Auto formating

i have a big word file (around 1.5 MB, 150 pages)

when i open it, word creates a blank strip on the right-
hand side of the pages, out of the ruler, increasing the
size of the pages and therefore downscaling my printing.

i have already tried to create a new file (copy/paste
section by section....): it seems OK, i close the file but
when i reopen it, the mess begins....

i am supposed to send this report within a few days

PLEASE HELP !!
