Help! Cancel MailItem Write event requires Outlook restart

Hi,

I am trying to Cancel the write event of the mailitem.
I don't want the changes made to the mail item to persist.
I set the Cancel parameter to true in the write event.

The problem is that the changes DO persist, until I
restart outlook and then they are gone.

Does Outlook persist changes to the mailitem even if the
write event has been cancelled, if it does is there any
workaround for it?

Any pointers would be really appreciated!
