HELP! Cant Edit Query

I have quite a few external queries that I run on an ongoing basis. For some
reason I can no longer 'Edit Query" or connect to external database. I CAN DO
A REFRESH and the data comes back find. I can also open MS Query and then
open an actual query to edit it, but if I try to do it from an excel sheet or
I try to create a new query from Excel I cant??
Any ideas????
