HELP can't send email with exchange server

HI:
I just got a new Mac for the office, set up Entourage to get work email
via our Exchange server & am having problems sending email. I get this
error message:

Error -18596 HTTP error. The resource is not found. Mail could not be
sent.

I can't find anything on the websites--need help! I can view my mail no
problem, but just sending! :(
Thanks!

I'm having the same problem. The school where I work installed the new
version of Exchange Server over the summer, and I can now only receive
emails. Help!
Thanks

Please can you tell us what version of entourage and Exchange you are using?

hi: i am using entourage 2004 & the exchange server is 2000--thanks!

Is WebDav active on the server? If you can connect through Outlook Web
Access, then it is, and you should use the same settings in entourage as you
would use in OWA.

I'm using Entourage 11.1.0 and the server is Exchange 2003. The
administrator has blocked both imap and pop3 access. I am able to read
and receive messages at school, but I cannot send any.

Thanks

I use Outlook Web but often exceed mail limit (we only get 15KB) this
way & can't save to folders to reduce the size. Ideally I need to get
Entourage to work & need to save to drive folders like I used to with
Outlook on my PC & send mail. :(

Entourage does not need POP or IMAP to send e-mails anyway. I suspect
there is some validation on the server. Do you have some kind of short
vs long e-mail address (eg: (e-mail address removed) or
(e-mail address removed)) ???
If it is the case you might try to use the other one in the reply to
address. Mybe then the server will accept to tlet the mail go through,

Thanks Corentin. We have only one email address, to the best of my
knowledge. I mention the POP and IMAP only in case it might have
soemthing to do with the problem somehow. I know that the absence of
them affects my ability to connect at home and confines me to the web
interface. Personally, I'd far rather be dealing with all my email on
one client at home, but that's another issue!

We are using Exchange 2003 here and POP, IMAP and SMTP are all disabled.
Yet, setting up my account as an Exchange account (and therefore going
through the Webmail server for e-mail) I can send all my e-mails without
any problem. There si nowhere to enter any additional information that
would be relevant to a "sending" server anyway.

As far as I know, with Exchange, outgoing mail now all goes directly
through the Webmail/OWA server and the same protocol is used for both
receiving and sending. If you can receive e-mails I'm a little puzzled
as to why you cannot send...
Are you sending from inside the network or outside ??? (they could have
implemented some kind of limitation in this regard).

It's a mystery to me, too. I'm inside the network. At least, last week
I could not send, though I had no problems receiving. I'll try again
tomorrow when I'm back at the salt mines and see what happens.
