HELP, chart trouble

Hi,
I have been redoing some Excel study work (keeping my hand
in it as I wait for the phone to ring to go on a job
interview - OPPPS not the vent board)
Anyway, I have to do a column chart that compares the
number of establishments in retail and services by 5
geographical location. Placing the type of establishment
on the catagory axis:each geographic area is a data series.
I just cannot do this, how is it done? I really need some
help.

Hi,

If your data is laid out in a 2x5 or 5x2 table, with a extra row and
column for labels, Excel will assume you want 5 categories and 2 data
series. In effect putting the locations along the category axis.

To change this you need to plot your data by the alternate method than
the one chosen by Excel. So when using the chart wizard select the
column chart then on the next step change the plot by option value.

Good luck with the interview.
