does anyone know how to get rid of the offensive,
instrusive pop-up message that all of a sudden shows up
every time i log on with no apparant way of closing it?
It says "system Alert to unsafe user" "Did you know
there is a one-click way to stop these pop-ups
forever....." it then refers to several PAY websites you
must visit to rid yourself of the message....please help!!

Sounds like you have some sort of malware (I don't know whether to call it a
virus, trojan, or something else, but it certainly shouldn't be there).

The problem you describe is discussed at
http://www.computing.net/security/wwwboard/forum/6131.html.

I suggest that once you have solved this problem you have a thorough review
of your computer security to make sure it doesn't happen again. There are
many things you can do to make your computer secure, but probably the most
important is to install all the patches from the Microsoft website.

Good luck!

There are two messengers services built into Windows for different uses.
If you have one on your task bar, get rid of it and configure your machine
not to start it. The second one that seems to have been highjacked by some
advertisers may also be turned off, but you may loose some functionality if
you have a program using it.

Sorry this is the MS Access (the database program) newsgroup. Try
annexcafe.general.user2user newsgroup for more detailed information.
