Help-- extending the site!!

C

Create

Everytime I try to extend the site using the following guide, I can't log
in the newly created site. When I click on the the create link, the login
screen comes and I can't login at all....
Can anybody help me with any idea.. I need this to finish my project
server
configuration.

I use the following guide:

3. Extend the Web site by using SharePoint Central Administration before you
install Project Server. To do this, follow these steps: a. Click Start,
point to All Programs, point to SharePoint Portal Server, and then click
SharePoint Central Administration.
b. Click Windows SharePoint Services.
c. In the Virtual Server Configuration area, click Extend or upgrade
virtual server.
d. On the Virtual Server List page, click your new virtual server.
e. Click Extend and create a content database.
f. On the Extend and Create Content Database page, follow these
steps: 1. Click Create a new application pool, type a name for the
application pool in the Application pool name box, such as ProjectServer.
2. Click Predefined, and then click Network Service.
3. In the Site Owner area, type a user name (in the form of
domain\username) in the User name box, and then type an e-mail address for
the user in the E-mail box.

Note Ideally, this is the e-mail address for a new user in the
domain specifically for Project Server 2003 who has only user rights but
has
a password that never expires. You can then use the same user account for
the PSCOM+ components.
4. Click OK to close Extend and Create Content Database.
5. Click OK after the virtual server has been extended
successfully.

This step finishes successifully but the problem is any user name can not access the server site using this.

I need help or any guideline.

Thanks

Sounds like you may have some sort of permissions problem on the box. I'm
sure you checked and made sure you are the administrator of the WSS box.
Normally what I do during a Project Server installation is follow your exact
steps. However, after I extend and create a content database I don't do
anything more with the sharepoint. I take the project server install cd and
use the windows sharepoint config wizard to install my project web access
template. After you are through with the wss wizard on the project server cd
write down the WSS Server central admin url including the port it is running
on and the top level website url. You will need it when you start setting up
Project Server.

If all else fails start fresh with the install. Make sure you have
appropriate access with the SQL server to create the WSS configuration
database(need to have atleast security admin and DBcreator privilages). Make
sure to do an iisreset after you have the WSS config db set up. If you are in
an active directory environment make sure your ad account has admin
privilages to the WSS box..and Project Server Box. Hopefully this will point
you in the right direction. If you haven't taken the Microsoft M2732
Planning, Deploying and managing an EPM solution you may want to look into
taking it. It's very helpful. Let me know if this info doesn't help or if I
need to clerify on a few things.

Thanks
