help! footnote symbol causes footnote to appear 10 pages earlier

hi, I need urgent help: in a "word" doc., I have to create footnotes. I have
one reference and footnote on page 6 and the next reference is on page 16,
but the second footnote gets created on page 6, right after the first
footnote. I need each to be on same page. this feels like a "bug", since I
have lots of experience with doing footnotes and I don't get why it's doing
this.

If anyone knows how to solve this problem, please answer as soon as possible.

Sometimes, footnotes are on the wrong page, but usually not that far
away. See http://word.mvps.org/faqs/formatting/FootnoteOnDiffPage.htm
for some suggestions.

Another thing to consider: There could be some corruption in the
document. Press Ctrl+A to select the whole document, press Shift+Left
arrow to deselect the final paragraph, then copy and paste into a new
file. Does that fix things?
