HELP: FP keeps inserting SPAN tags...

Hi all
When i have edited a page in design view, then look at the code, I see
that FP insists upon inserting countless SPAN tags.
I can edit out the tags, and everything still looks OK, so in these
cases they are really unneccessary.
Is there any way to stop FP 2003 doing this?
Any help would be appreciated.
