help function

Word crashed, losing a document, and when I tried to search for how to
recover a document, the help function will not open. How can I fix this?

What version of Word is this?

Was AutoRecover enabled? (Tools - Options - Save) If so, then, depending on
the save interval, an .asd file should've been saved in the AutoRecover
folder (Tools - Options - File locations). When Word restarts, it looks in
that location for any .asd files, and automatically recovers any it finds.
