my daughter received an excel homework sheet from a friend.
We have an IMAC and Word but not Excel. I am unable to
read this text and don't know what/how to download things
or open this text through another program. Any

Recent versions of AppleWorks can open most Ecel files, with some
limitations (only one sheeted workbooks, if I remember well)

Another possible solution is icExcel, to be downloaded from:
http://www.panergy-software.com/products/icexcel/index.html

This too, is not a total answer, some feature may be lost, some files
unreadable...

If you can't find a proper solution (and the content isn't too confidential)
you can send it over to me, I can convert it to a more suitable format if
you want (tell me which type: AppleWorks ?)
