HELP! How to send to a Large Distribution List

I have created a distribution list with over 1000 names
(members of my community) but I can't email them. Get
a "Ms Word Exception error". I figure it is because I
have exceeded the limit.
If it cannot be done in MS Outlook XP, I would like to
transfer these names). I have an even much larger
Contacts folder and do not want to go through the folder
one by one to check which ones are in my distribution
list.

Please help. Thanks
