HELP! I can’t open Word & Excel files after installing new Security patches

Does anyone know how to undo the latest Word and Excel Security patches (noted below)? This is driving me nuts!

I updated my Office XP for Students & Teachers yesterday and now I can't open ANY of my Word or Excel files. When I try to open a Word document I get an error "the file [filename].doc is not available". When I try to open an Excel file I get the error "unable to read file". Even if I create a new document, once I’ve saved and closed it I can not open it again

I tried uninstalling Excel and reinstalling it but get the same error. Isn’t there any way to uninstall these patches

I'm using Windows XP Hom

Excel 2002 Security Patch KB830350 November 11, 200
Word 2002 Security Patch KB830346 November 11, 2003

Resolution

I scanned through a bunch of older posts and found that similar problems had occured with earlier Office Updates and the conflict was with Norton Antivirus. I had already uninstalled Norton Antivirus and replaced it with PC-cillin Internet Security but there were still a bunch of files in the program Files folders. I deleted those folders and now everything is working again.

Damn NAV! Even after it's uninstalled it creates problems! Why the he77 can't MS and Symantec get together and coordinate to reduce the countless conflicts the cause for each other.
