HELP! I cannot open a shortcut on my desktop. How do I?

I was trying to transfer files from a USB drive to another USB drive. I
opened the files on the first drive, saved them to my desktop, and then
right-clicked the icon and chose "send to" the new USB drive. Now, the file
is saved as a "shortcut to..." and will not open at all from either USB drive
or my desktop (the shortcut file appears on the desktop only). The original
file is gone and all that is left is the "short cut to..." in its place.
HELP! I need it for tomorrow morning!

You could try right clicking on the shortcut then choose find target which
should take you to the file if its there
