On your hard drive, look in the Applications folder (start from the main
hard drive, NOT your Home/Username). Listed alphabetically, you should
see a Microsoft Office 2008 folder, with Word in it. Launch Word, and
when it is open, right-click (or control-click) on the W in the Dock and
select "keep in dock".

By the way, you may find this entry to the Mac forums easier than the
main MS site:

Don't panic, Jordan - in all probability you didn't delete Word. You more
likely removed the Word icon from the Dock. Where have you looked?

In a Finder window go to MacHD/Applications/Microsoft Office 2008 to see if
Word isn't still there. If it is, drag the Word Application icon to the Dock
to create a new alias.

Also, if it isn't in that folder look in the Trash & if it's there drag it
back to the Office folder.

If Word is not in the Trash do a Spotlight search for: Microsoft Word.app
and drag it back to the Microsoft Office 2008 folder.

If it still can't be found & you don't have a backup (using Time machine for
example) you'll have to reinstall from the original Office Disk & update to
your current level before running it. If you need more help post back.

It's not easy to delete something from the Applications folder, but
sounds like you did. Guess you'll need to reinstall from the CD, if you
don't see the program in Applications/Microsoft Office 2008.

I have a very old version of Microsoft Word, Version 5. I had to trash and re-install my hard drive and lost Word. My install disk is corrupted, but I managed to get Word working again. However, Spellcheck is missing. Any way I can get it back? Thanks for any help.

No. You need to restore the dictionary files and the spell checker program.

Might be time to wander down to the computer shop and see if you can find a
cheap version of Microsoft Office 2004 :)

If you hunt around on eBay, you can find them down to about $20.00.

But DO take care :) A legitimate software product arrives with a CD, in a
plastic case that has an orange sticker on the back or on the inside booklet
containing a 20-digit product licence key.

If you do not get the series of letters and numbers that make the product
key, what you have is completely without value (except to the Police...)
:)

Hope this helps
