Help! I lost all email boxes when deleting items

Looking for help Outlook 2007 I was trying to clean out folders - deleted the
"deleted items" & "sent messages" folders BUT somehow lost the inbox as well!
This is my husband's work account, before today he never used the outlook
program, just used webmail...and although I assumed I wasn't touching
webmail, apparently the two are connected, and all the stuff I would have
thought would still be accessible on webmail is GONE. He needs the mail from
the inbox for work , contacts etc.! I have been in an absolute panic all
evening due to this. I am not a total noob, I know it's gotta be in there
somewhere, but how to find and restore? I tried "restore deleted files" on
the tools tab, but no luck. Any ideas? Can it be restored with archives?
How to proceed?

All depends on which mail account type you are using. You can look this up
via Tools-> Account Settings...

Are you sure they are deleted? or probably only moved into another folder.
Is this a mailbox from exchange account? or POP account? give us details for
better advise.

Some etiquette;
-Don't hijack a thread but start a thread of your own.
-Don't use all CAPS as it means shouting.
-Note that this is a discussion group; replies are made to this group to
keep the discussion intact and have it available to others.

As for the question;
It sounds like you are using Exchange. Simply press the "Purge selected
items" button in that dialog.

Thank you for your assistance, as it turns out, hubby got in touch with IT
admin and was able to restore the emails - unfortunately it resulted in 1300
emails in the deleted file folder that he will have to go through to decipher
which need to stay & which need to go. I was hoping to fix before he had to
call for help, however the crisis was resolved so all is well with the world.
I just decided to never "try to help" again!
