I have a new machine that is running WinXPPro and has OfficeXP
installed already on it. I want to use Publisher 2K and have my
original Office 2K Pro CD's. I ran office update prior to installing
Publisher 2K and now Office XP is fully up to date (no problems). I
have installed Publisher 2K now and it seems to run fine as well but
when I run the office update (MS website) it wants to update the
Office 2K elements by first installing "Office 2K SR-1a" followed by
"Office 2K SP-3" updates.
I have now read about support article #290576 on MS's website but
since the Office XP was already installed by the factory, I can't have
gone that route.
My question is: Can I SAFELY let the office updates happen and that
they will ONLY affect the single Publisher 2K installation, update it
correctly and not screw up Office XP?
I am very scared of doing this!! Has anybody had this issue, run the
updates and been OK?
HELP!!!
