HELP :-( lost document

S

SUSAN

Help ... I had a power failure and lost my document; the
auto recovery came up but when I clicked on the latest
file, Word said it couldn't open it and then it
disappeared :-((( I've tried getting into Documents and
Settings, but I can't. This is a huge paper (of course)
and of COURSE, the battery on my APC just ran out after
the Big Power Failure last week. Please, please help.
Thank you.

Susan,

Take a look at your options to determine where your
autorecover files are saved. Click...

Tools | Options | File Locations | Autorecover Files

...it probably resides in...(C:\WINDOWS\Application
Data\Microsoft\Word)

Go to Windows Explorer and navigate to that folder. You
might be able to find something there.

Autorecovery doesn't save the file - it only saves recovery information and
is a bit hit and miss.If Word has not automatically recovered the file, then
neither will you. You'll have to start from the last saved version. If you
wish to automatically save a document, then you need the save reminder macro
available for download via a link on the favourites page of my web site.
