Help. lost document!

Is there any way to recover a document that I have saved over on my desk
top? I mistakenly saved a document by one name over another much more
important document of another name. I have not saved anything to my hard
drive since, and My autorecovery feature was on at the time. Is there
anything I can do?

Unless you either have a file recovery utility, like Norton, or had
the document set to automatically create backups (which you set in
the File/Save As/Options... dialog), I'm afraid you're out of luck.

There's an off-chance that there may be a temporary Word work file
around. Try using the Finder's Find function and look for files on
your desktop with visibility set to Off.

Hi Abigail,

I'm not entirely sure what you did, but if when you saved the second
document, you replaced the first with it, then the first is gone.
Autorecovery can't help if the document doesn't exist any longer which is
what you seem to be saying.
