Hi all,

I newly acquired a MAC after having used a PC for a very long time. My
previous Dell laptop had microsoft word already included in its
packaged software when I bought it. So I'm still getting used to all
the differences. For instance, it seems bizarre to me that I should
spend another $300 on Word 2004 software just to have word processing
capabilities. But otherwise all it seems that I have to write papers
with is the test drive version until I buy the software. However I
wasn't paying attention to how many days had passed and now my test
drive with Word 2004 has expired and now I can't even seem to access
the papers I'd written. Does anyone know if there is a way to access
these files after a test drive has expired???? Any and all help is
greatly needed and appreciated!! Thanks!

The free application TextEdit that is included with your Mac OS will open
Word files. So will Pages if your Mac includes the iWork package.

When I bought MY Dells, they did NOT have any Word-processor installed
(because I declined to pay the price Dell wanted for a fairly cut-down
version of Microsoft Office...)

Sorry to bring you down with a thud, but full-featured word-processing (or
any other full-featured application) has always been a paid-for extra, on
any platform.

In the meantime, you could try setting your system clock back a month...
:)

Cheers
