Help me customize my new laptop so Excel is faster

I am getting a new laptop, and I cannot decide if I should spend th
extra money and get 1 Gig of Ram as opposed to the standard 512.

One reason I am getting a new laptop is because Excel runs too slow o
my current laptop when I am working in extremly large workbook
(20-60K+ Rows, dozens of columns).

I am assuming the faster processor will help, and the increase of ra
is nice too, but should I go with 1 gig instead? Seems like overkil
for Excel, but will a make a huge difference overall

IMHO 512 should be plenty unless you have a bunch of programs all running at
once.

If you're using Excel 2002 or below, it's unlikely that adding beyond
512 will help much. But Excel 2003 can use the extra RAM. But improved
structure of what you're doing is likely to be a better way to go.

It is imperative that the patches provided by Microsoft in its April
Security Release be applied to Systems as soon as possible. It is
believed that the likelihood of a worm being released SOON that
exploits one of the vulnerabilities addressed by these patches is VERY
HIGH
