help me ENABLE my MS Word, says 6.0/95 disabled

I need help here, trying to merge cells, etc. what I need to do is "greyed
out" and msg : Disabled because not compatible with MS Word 6.0/95 keeps
showing up.
I've got MS Office 2003 installed.

Any suggestions, are greatly appreciated!! Thank You!

On the Save tab of Tools | Options, change the default file format to "Word
Document" and make sure that "Disable features introduced after" is not
checked.

Thanks, I ran into the same issue and this worked!!!

Do we know why on some documents this is enabled and on others it is not?
How does it get enabled?

It might be enabled if the document were a legacy one in an older format.
