help me get son's computer back on track

I have a Toshiba XP Media Center laptop computer that just had the hard drive
replaced (the computer has a dvd multi-drive). I am re-installing all
programs to get the computer up and running. And have successfully
reinstalled 2 programs already. I can't get anywhere with the Microsoft
Office 2003 Student/Teacher edition installation CD. The drive is not reading
it at all. I've tried restarting, clicking on the drive, etc etc and the
drive shows that nothing is there. In short, the CD isn't being read. The CD
is in excellent condition, only used twice, to reinstall once before. What do
I do? Do I need to rebuy the programs, can I download the program somewhere
and insert my product key? I browsed Microsoft's download center and nothing
appears to be the actual program, only upgrades/drivers. Help!

Thanks in advance,
Mom and 11 year-old son

Reboot, by totally shutting down the computer and restarting, the computer
and try again. If it still doesn't work, try a different CD. Drives can go
bad just that quickly.

thx. the link Gordon provided gave info on trading in the CD, I am going to
try that. I think you are right and the disk is now bad.
