Robert in need of a Guru
I have Office 2000 Professional on my Windows XP system, on my HP Pavilion
notebook. I never had any problems using Outlook until I recently attempted
to download a routine update. It appeared to be a typical "updates for
Microsoft Office" type download, so I just clicked on it and selected that
any updates be made automatically.
I went through the download. It asked me for my Office 2000 product key on
the back of the CD case. I entered it with no problems. I got to about 98%
completion of the download, then it asked for the Office 2003 product key. I
was then totally confused, because I never bought a 2003 upgrade. So, I just
cancelled the download (at 98% completion).
This is where I started noticing problems using Word, Excel, Office when I
opened those programs from the desktop. I keep getting an alarm message
saying "Not Implemented!". However, when I access Word and Excel through
"Programs" it allows me to open my 2000 version of the programs with no
problem. Outlook, however, will no longer let me enter any new information
(i.e. calendar, contacts, etc.). Also, I can't open emailed Word or Excel
files without the same alarm message. I have to save them to disk first and
then go into Programs and open Word and Excel there, then open them from
there.
What seems to have happened is that Windows now thinks I have the Office
2003 uprade. This is a big problem for me. Please help me!
