Help me kill those Document Gallery Tabs atthe top of my Word docs

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

I read that those tabs at the top of very Word doc in Print Layout View (document elemenets, quick tables, charts...) are not removable. Is this really not possible? It's just completely useless to me, and terribly annoying that I can't get rid of it. For so much else that's customize-able on Word, those tabs are about to drive me crazy. Has anyone found a workaround to kill those tabs?

Thanks

No, the Elements Gallery cannot be switched off. Please send Microsoft your
feedback (Help>Send Feedback about Word).

There is no option, there is no workaround. The best you can do - if
vertical space is a significant issue - is to use the oblong button at the
right end of the title bar to collapse the docked toolbars. The Elements
Gallery buttons, however, will remain.

MS has been made keenly aware of the responses typical to yours. I would
not, however, expect to see a change in the 2008 version. If you want to
reinforce the point where it can make a difference for the next release use
Help> Send Feedback to add your comments to the growing database that the
program managers do pay attention to.
