I'm a student. Purchased the Student version of Office.
The folks at Comp USA said it was the same as Office Pro
XP--However, the class that I bought the package for is
an Access class. No Access on the student version. Comp
USA will not exchange or refund as they have already
loaded the software. How can I get Access by itself
without having to pay a fortune.

The folks at Comp USA lied. I'd go to the manager of the store and
calmly but firmly insist that they make good on their employee's
assertion, and give you a copy of Access. Contact CompUSA corporate
headquarters if you can't get any response from the local store.

Access doesn't cost "a fortune" - it's far from free; see Microsoft's
website for details, and check your local vendors (NOT CompUSA I'd
say...!)

In addition to what John advised, if you do not get satisfaction from the
Manager at the local store, go over his head and contact corporate. Here is
a link:

When you describe the problem, be sure to use words and phrases like:

gross misrepresentation
shocked, appalled and dismayed

For example, "I am shocked, appalled and dismayed that your employee would
make such a gross misrepresentation of this product."

Also, be sure to mention that as a student you have many, many friends who
need to buy software now and in the future. With a good recommendation from
you, they would certainly buy from CompUSA. Otherwise, you will be telling
all of them of your experience and recommending that they buy on-line or
from any store other than CompUSA.
